Chance had been here in dream before. Having seen the rise and the fall of civilizations, the birth and death of the famed, the creature Loe slither through dimensional cracks, only to seep into her form and make it’s self at home. That was what she saw, experienced and recollected while her heels clicked carelessly against the debris of old sidewalk. There had been family ties that drew her to the city, where the stench of Fae was as common and intoxicating as humanity’s obsession with drugs and sex and violence. That was why they came in droves, to sit and collect all the fluttering, loose feelings these mortals sent out, until there was nothing left to take; and they’d leave when it stopped, if only to search out another place where the atmosphere was fat and ripe with the spirit of humanity. She could taste the air, see through the umbra, feel the caressing extremities of the malignant aura gliding up and down exposed thighs, and yet there was no pause to her pace. In this moment, as she had always been known to seem, the Fae appeared calm.
Her thoughts were endless, her emotions a strange conglomeration of every stray feeling the city carried with it, and her luminous hues did little to hint at the crazed insides Chance harbored. They just seemed off; otherworldly in the way the irises swirled and circled the pupils. They even cast light over the woman, so no matter how dark and dangerous whatever route she took may have been, her lighthouse orbs were beaming over angelic features. Was it wrong to let them see her face when they died? Could she really embody their fantasy of an Angel of Death, collecting them into her pale and slender arms just so their entirety could be compacted and crushed through one small hole in her torso? If she had to die, which eventually she would as all things did, Chance had decided it would be a method far less gruesome than her own brand of ultra-violence.
Being skull fucked seemed appreciable when put against being strained and dragged through a dimensional rift like an elephant through a cheese grater.
It wasn’t uncommon for the woman to think back on it. Those tortured, or quick or sometimes, the mistakenly slaughtered creatures she had conquered and devoured – their absolute cosmic leftovers resting within her buxom figure like a wailing chorus of banshees. The dead could be feisty sometimes, and that was why she almost always stayed glamoured, even if it did little for her own self-image. You never really knew when some average Joe out there possessed Auspex, or a similar ranch of supernatural aura reading, which would give them the ability to see through the ruse. All those lies, all those created images of her, replaced by that perfect body amid the endless antenna and vibrissa of Obtenebration. The abyss shared her body as freely as Chance had to Kumo, or Eneru years prior. As sad as such a life may have seemed, with a neat leash keeping her chained to her destiny, Chance Arden still managed to be happier than most of the inhabitants of this town.
A smile was present on those delicate features of hers; openly challenging the unknown like it knew more than it should. Night had beckoned her home, but it was the strong scent of her once mate that sent her near mindlessly following a golden trail to the brownstone. So rich and so real, Chance didn’t even try to question if it could possibly be the nin she had known years prior, or if it was some sort of clever trap to catch her off guard. There were many things to be said for Chance Arden, few of which were flattering, but stupid wasn’t on the list. She plotted and she planned like one from her given position was expected to; if she was made to be the villain in the fairytale, why would anyone doubt the sort of methodical obsessing her brain was constantly involved in? Between debaucheries and the ever present need to consume lesser beings, Chance also made time to map out her existence, for she had seen the end of the road countless years down the line, and wanted nothing more than to change that fate.
Who didn’t want to fight the future? The inevitable scared everyone to some extent, and she was no exception.
Chance hadn’t been alone in her thoughts, not while something stalked behind with a presence that seemed to thrum like the lower notes of a bass guitar. Certainly not a Fae, yet not human either; but there would be no backtracking to catch whatever the monstrosity happened to be. Time to dawdle wasn’t penciled in when there was something drawing her onward, and though it never really abandoned the forefront of her mind, it was likely less pressing than the tie to the nin. Chance wasn’t the sort to give up what she owned for frivolous adventures, and that was beauty of her story. As long as she possessed what she wanted, the Fae abomination was rather harmless. Only when there were obstacles placed between her and her goal, was there an issue and ultimately, a reason for her to drop the charade and settle back into predatory habits.
Turning a sharp corner, it seemed someone else was out as late as she, and in such, they had made their figure an obstacle. Maybe out of context, Chance would see the humor in the situation. Being caught off-guard by something as mundane as a passerby while remaining ever vigilant towards other matters – that was the real joke of her evening. Forget not having a moment’s privacy with Maestro, or ending up alone in the bar, having had a goal to just take anyone to bed for release purposes. No, this was certainly more interesting than that, and her slow smile seemed an indicator as she looked over the creature who acted as hurtle between her physical presence and where her desires remained in the distance. Kumo would have to wait, it seemed.
Of course, it took barely any time for the other thing to catch up, the one in the strange armor and masked face. The thrumming, pulsing energy the other stranger released now worked in the way a massive tidal wave did, taller than she was and looming when it made approaching steps in their direction. “Do I look like I have friends?” Chance asked softly, a set of slender digits reaching between the swell of her cleavage for a moment to snag her pack of cigarettes, which she’d open and snag a cig from. “I’d hope if I had any, they’d be more attractive then he is.” Snapping her fingers at the end of the cigarette, the fae found herself inhaling from it just in time for The Fuck Sauce to settle on them and wait silently behind her, and she’d miss him motion to alley for the other male to scram to. Chance could sense the tension, as well as take note that the thrumming from the overly large figure at her rear was centered lower than expected. His wants were spelled out, his goals evident by the weighty aura he possessed, and Chance didn’t honestly find any surprise in her conclusions.
Of course she had attracted him. Out of all the supernatural things to draw in with her seductive veneer, why not have it be the giant beast in the layered plate, with a massive weapon and an appetite for death? Again, more laughing would be had from the Fae, even if it wasn’t evident by her rather stoic persona towards the two. “Head straight a few ticks, towards downtown, and you’ll find the One Night Stand. Hard to miss by how much energy the place harbors.” With that, she was again walking towards her home, with massive warrior following her, or not. At least that would imply some sort of independence from the fool who had attempted chivalry on her behalf, and if the smaller male was in the least bit cautious for his life, he’d take her words and use them to get to the bar. Either way, she didn’t linger in hopes of catching the outcome of good versus bad decisions. Instead, it was apparent there was somewhere more important for her to be, even if this was a wrench in the behemoth’s plans.
If he could see her fully, through the glamour and the layers of forced interpretation, the Fuck Sauce would be able to see those skeletal wings limp against her back, as well as the endless sea of darkness bubbled and seething around her feet and legs. He’d see her evil in full, without her needing to give any more insight into her being, and that was generally enough to keep the dogs at bay. If it didn’t work tonight, who knew what she was capable of? The quickest way to drive the monster to anger was to get between her and what she place claim on. Kumo was hers and the barbaric beast trying to tag along wouldn’t take attention away from her obsessive goal to collect what was hers after the countless months she had been deprived of his affections.
