Renton looked sulky while he fixed his own identification tag as ordered by the Brigadier General. He hid his displeasure behind finishing off his cake pop and drinking his tea. The techie remained silent. Here he was getting in trouble for the mistakes of some rando communications agent.
Fine Wednesday morning this turned out to be. Something told him, of course, she wasn’t quite a rando. Well, he had her name and her job, and access to all the employee data files, so he was sure to find out sooner or later some tidbits about her.
Owen’s fingers brushed over Julianna’s as he accepted the cake pop from her. He’d definitely noted the little pout that she’d given him before hand, so he rewarded her with that little touch for her obedience. Seemed fair, to him.
“I see.” He said when informed what the social gathering was about. He took a large bite from the cake pop and surveyed the two undoubtedly guilty agents while he chewed. “I hope you have an alibi for last night or Miss Maxillion here will be managing much more than your social media posts.” He was focused on Agent Gagnon while he spoke but the warning was also for Renton.
Owen took one more bite of the cake pop leaving about a quarter of it left. He then offered it back to Julianna to finish off should she want it. His free hand formed into an index finger that swayed back and forth between Renton and Emma.
“There’s a connection here. And I don’t like it.” This he told to Julianna as if he was pointing out the problem that she would be solving in her role as P.R. Agent to them both. “On a related note, I need to see you later about Armas.” Owen added. “The CAF will, no doubt, be issuing a statement about the attack.”
He glanced pointedly at the two on trial.
“You -” he jabbed an index finger at Renton, “Will be assigned to running breach tactics on our security systems this week and will issue a full report at a Central Command staff meeting on Friday afternoon.” His finger turned to Emma. “You, Agent, will do whatever undoubtedly vital -” he couldn’t have sounded more sarcastic. If he didn’t know your name on sight you weren’t important. “- tasks that are assigned to you. And will cooperate fully with Miss Maxillion’s requests of you.”
