Keiavan was not at all prepared for the onslaught of information that Rose immediately dumped on him at the slightest prompting. He tried to keep his expression neutral, this isn’t what he’d been asking, but he didn’t want to dissuade her from venting if she needed someone to talk to. Rose sounded like she had a lot going on, but they also sounded like typical freshman problems, most of which were lost on him because they sounded like feminine things.
He couldn’t help but chuckle when she exasperated about sounding like her dad. “Can’t say for sure,” he joked when she asked about his growth. “It just sort of happened over time I guess.” A smile curled at one corner of his mouth, because her words sort of sounded like compliments. At least, he would choose to take them that way.
Without thinking, Keiavan moved closer. Close enough to wrap an arm around her shoulders and bring her against him in a one-armed hug. Mostly to keep her from flailing anymore, because he could only imagine the drama that would ensue if that phone flew out of her hands. He squished her against him briefly, smiling down at her and using the new position to walk her back in the direction of the theater. He was trying to be nice to her, because she was frazzled, and a friend and because he wanted her to know that the Twitter thing was all in the past.
“I can’t do much about the dorms or the showers, or foundation on the mirrors,” he started, squeezing her shoulder. “But I can tutor you in French? Since, you know, I’m fluent?” He was teasing her now, just like he had when they were children. He would often taunt in her French to get her really riled up with they were feeling feisty. “And I can’t even walk you to the library sometimes.” Keiavan stopped walking just outside the double doors and turned her around to face him.
“I didn’t even know you were going to school here,” he explained. “Or I would have tried to get in touch with you.”

I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you.
