Julianna had easily found club soda and salt tucked away with the rest of the laundry detergents. Apparently red wine stains were something their old housekeeper had come to expect. She poured a little of each over the stain and gently rubbed her fingertip over the fabric. She almost felt as if she were short-circuiting. As her hands went through familiar motions her mind was reeling. Julianna would catch herself thinking about the curve of Owen’s bicep as he lifted the wineglass to his mouth, and then she would immediately scold herself for such thoughts. Then it would start over, with some other muscled part of him that had been revealed by the accident.
I’m really not she had heard him say. She tried not to assume that there would be more shirtless Owen in her future. And then she tried not to like the idea.
She knew her face was still on fire, which was embarrassing. She was a grown woman, and it wasn’t as if this was the first time she had seen a shirtless man. Exhaling sharply through her nose, she closed her eyes and pushed down the lid on the washing machine. Tapping her nail rhythmically on the metal. It was absolutely unacceptable for her to be reacting to a client this way. A married father of two who was paying her to care for his children. Absolutely unacceptable. “Get it together, Jules,” she muttered to herself, while setting a wash cycle. “You’ve never reacted this way before.” It was true, she hadn’t, but it was also safe to say that none of her previous clients had been so...hot.
When she returned to the kitchen, she found the twins and their father missing from the space, and having retreated into the living room. She took the time to clean and sanitize their highchairs and tuck them out of the way, before switching off the light in the kitchen and joining the trio in the living room.
Content to watch for a few moments as dad and babies enjoyed each other’s company to the sounds of Selena Gomez overhead, she didn’t intrude on the play time until James wandered too close to the arm of the couch. Julianna moved forward and plucked the wayward child from the edge; he squealed when she grabbed him like it was some sort of game. Jules smiled before sitting down on the couch and setting James down at her feet.
It was nearly akin to sharks and blood the way in which the twins stormed on Julianna as soon as she had sat. James immediately turned around and pawed at her jeans, trying to use the grip to pull himself into a standing position. Lucy crawled over as quickly as she could, displeased with James trying to get all of her attention.
Enormous blue eyes gazed up at her with an adoration that was too intense for their having spent two days together. “Hello babies,” she cooed, petting each of their heads. “Were you telling dad all about your exciting day today?” She continued to touch them affectionately as she spoke to them; the twins seemed entranced by her gentle tone. “Did you tell him about our walk through the botanical gardens and our trip to the grocery store?” The twins giggled almost as if they understood as they clamored around her legs. Talking to them this way was a little game that Julianna liked to play. It kept the twins engaged while also informing Owen to the nature of their typical activities.
“But now I think it’s time for bed,” she announced, tapping each of their noses.

I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you.
