Elliot was often unaware of what transpired in his own home. He often abandoned most of the sprawling estate to slither around underground in the expansive system of tunnels and dungeons that lay hidden beneath stone and soil. He had, over many years, transformed the dreary catacombs into a dreary laboratory that suited his needs both magical and mundane. When he was wrapped up in a particularly exciting experiment he often when days without eating and weeks without being seen above ground.
Eden was correct in thinking his absence was sign of good fortune for herself and the young Ethan. Normally, their day trip would have gone completely unnoticed by the half-mad warlock, but today was different. Today Elliot had need for his young ward, who had finally come of age to be useful to him. When he emerged from his lair and began searching for his nephew and his governess, he became increasingly more vexed the longer he could not locate them.
The master stopped a young maid who had the misfortune of crossing his path. She had attempted to walk past him, silent and with her head down, carrying a precarious stack of laundry. “You there,” he snapped and she stopped her tracks with a small sound of fear. Green eyes narrowed in her direction as he twisted his body around to face her. He approached until he was looming over the young girl.
“Ms. Weatherfare and the boy. Where are they?”
The woman swallowed hard, eyes darting across his face and to either side as if she would find assistance for her uncomfortable situation. She opened her mouth, but no words came forward and Elliot raised a single brow in response to her silence.
He waited a few seconds longer for her to speak, but she only whimpered and with a disgusted sneer Elliot abandoned her. The main doors opened as he crossed through the foyer towards the gardens. He was both surprised and enraged when he saw Eden and Ethan, who she was pulling along by the hand.
“Where have you been?” He demanded of the woman as he made a hasty approach. He towered over the pair, he gazed down his nose at them, and then further still to the toy that the boy held. “What...is that?”

I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you.
