<img style="max-width:25%;float:left;margin:0 18px;" style="avatar" src="http://i.imgur.com/Kg8kHEX.png]The selection of individuals Azreal considered a friend was a sparse a list as it got, beyond that whom he trusted as an ally even less so. Azreal's catalog of names were more closely labeled as informants, business partners, hired help. Among the vast number of faces he'd taken to remember over a lengthy period, none were a lover of his. Call it a trope, but in his line of work to have a single person in such a position was the most foolish action one could risk attempting. When one dealt with the seediest parts of society, when one played the great game, the closest being to oneself is also the most apparent target to strike at, and the most vital to one's entire structure of intangible defenses. Personally, in his eyes, it was just not worth leaving himself open to that sort of attack; not to say he'd even had the time to look for such a person in his life.
Regardless, Ashrun seemed consistently put off guard by his playful jokes and kind nature towards her. Azreal meant what he had said thus far to her, and certainly enjoyed her company to not build their relationship on lies and deceit. However, this persona he put on for her was by no means his true character. One day she'd see him for what he was, and they could go from there; that was to say if the two even lasted that long enough to fly off of this harsh planet.
When she caught onto her own actions she regularly devolved further into a heated blush, shying away to rub at her ear or hide herself as best she could, and Azreal took those moments as a sign to give her space, so he'd not encroach further on her domain she held at the door frame. Instead he stood by attentive and listening to her as she described where he could find the tarp, and perhaps some rope to bind them together. On the matter of footwear, he took a moment to glance down at his bare feet briefly before catching her unique hues once more. "Whatever you can find I'll be able to wear within reason. Your brother's sizes are not too far off from my own, so I doubt his size in shoes is terribly different either." Azreal gave Ashrun a wave while taking a few steps back away from her. Remembering in his head the location he'd passed by before that she mentioned, he'd turn away with only a few parting words of meeting up when they both were finished with their tasks.
With a quick pace against the cool stone beneath him, Azreal would arrive at the common room, the table by the fire place spotted and approached. The shifter pushed aside the piece of furniture with relative ease and took note of the decently sized hatch attached to the floor. Now on his knees he took hold of the handle and maneuvered it as she'd detailed for him, and sure enough the entrance. As if a mechanism had switched, the door slid along the floor away from him to reveal a set of descending stair down the slender opening. A mysterious area built into an already secluded compound? Azreal began to wonder if the other mysteries of this place were going to be tucked out of the way like this seemed to be. Back to standing, he descended into the passage, dimly lit by low powered lights around his feet. Leveling out, Azreal wouldn't require the added illumination of the lighting over head to see what was around him, but it certainly helped.
This room was not so much a living, or storage compartment as a tunnel. At least from where he was located, it stretched out in front of him far enough to where he couldn't make out details in the darkness or if it changed direction. A way for those occupying this underground facility to hide if need be, or to escape if disaster struck? He couldn't tell, but there were supplies scattered about the narrow space, though not much. At his first glance, the object he was searching for was not in sight. Boxes sure, there was a whole stack of them set aside the wall. At the base though he could see a grey colored fabric keeping the what were crates upon closer inspecting from directly meeting the floor. Each were nondescript in and wooden, nailed tightly shut. Without the time to investigate each, Azreal merely began lifting them one by one and laying them out across the wall. One however, midway through the pile carried more weight than he anticipated and it slipped right through his grip to splinter on the stone below. Inside had been hidden a collection of devices, only one of which he could readily make out as a gun of sorts. "Huh, so they weren't completely without a way to fight back." Somewhat recklessly, Azreal took up the rifle and braced the butt to his shoulder. Directing his aim at another set of boxes in the distance, he pulled at what was an awkward trigger on the side only to be met with disappointment. Not even a click, just silence. To be expected, it didn't work as intended. How long had some of these items sat down here without use? Or perhaps it had been damaged from the drop.
Either way, he'd wasted enough time and set the weapon down in the mess he'd made. The tarp freed, he went to fold it underneath his arm, tying it together with a length of cord that he'd found wrapped around one of the crates. His task completed, Azreal would head back up the stairs, being sure to close the hatch in the same manner he'd opened it with. Then it was more backtracking through the spacious structure tucked deep into the cavern to the elevator that had taken him who knows how deep into the earth. Again the glass wall showing off the cave network as well as other locations caught his attention, though not long before noticing the dirt he'd tracked along the tile the night before, and then Ashrun standing patiently by the elevator as he figured she'd be. "I must admit, the fact that there's a tunnel that seems to run through the underbelly of the structure is impressive in it's own right." Only slightly winded in his hustle, he'd make his way over to the woman, hefting what was essentially an averaged sized tarp in one hand neatly tied off. "Looks like we're all set."
