This - whatever this was - didn't appeal to Kae. There hadn't been much reason for the woman to follow the male home previously, save for the possibility there was truth to his words. A better life, as he had mentioned. Of course, bleeding all over the hand touching her face didn't constitute for anything of the sort. If nothing else, their situation fell several rungs on the ladder lower than her previous living arrangements did, and she had already experienced enough abuse in one night to instill a settling sense of disconnection from her companion. He was, in polite terms, reckless. Her bashed features paid testament to this fact.
"Or you find them, Mr. Astartes."
His apology was soaked; her eyes lifted only to meet his gaze. "I can't override them." Stated plainly, Kae didn't seem deceitful as she explained further, "That's beyond my level of access. There is an uplink connection that feeds data to the memory banks, and those memories are kept in the cloud. I am not an employee, therefore I do not have the access needed to retrieve the files. Even if I did, there are more files stored in the cloud than just mine- billions. Perhaps trillions. I couldn't tell you how many bytes of data are there. I can reload my own files if the need arises, but I cannot erase them nor alter them. That's the law, Mr. Astartes. Synthetics cannot tamper with their own memories." Kae paused to straighten as best she could, wiping blood in a slick smear from beneath her nose to the middle of her cheek.
"If you overwrite me, you will have a factory model. So, if that is what you would prefer, do so." Kae shifted to prop against the wall with her back straight, her nude figure still exposed as blotchy red bruising started to darken with time. Ventus walking away didn't put Kae anymore at ease than she had been over the past sequences of events. If nothing else, it set off alarms in the back of her mind concerning why he chose to leave the room. The faucet would run, and in the forefront of her mind, Kae counted the seconds as though expectant of some new startling revelation to reveal itself in regards to the gangster. After all, their evening had already plunged into the dark recesses of human interaction. More to come was always a possibility, especially with Ventus' temper. Kae didn't know how to deal with him anymore than she knew how to deal with her nose, which continued to bleed even as Ventus returned.
"Why?" Kae asked because his answer was cryptic, but also because she didn't want the idea to be left open ended. A struggle was something she could see overcoming, but currently, her situation was dead end, and the android felt trapped because of this. The first signs of pain had began ebbing through the lockout, and even as she listened stoically, tears welled at the corner of her sky blue eyes. Resting on dark lashes, they threatened to fall should she blink. When his hand tipped her chin upwards, the woman returned to staring in her typically fixated way, quiet only until he had finished speaking.
Then, and only then, did she answer with, "You're cruel, Mr. Astartes, and I can only wonder what left you as this pitiable husk of a human being."
