Seems worth having a place to consolidate all my horrifying crimes against nature.
Ever since hearing about Osiris, I've wanted to play an android OC that's been rattling around in my head for years...

A decadently crass reminder of a future that never happened, Neph was the prototype for a proposed line of personal service androids for the absurdly rich being developed by Coan Robotics. Unfortunately for their creators, Neph slowly became sapient enough to resent their status as property. A small mountain of corpses later, they escaped to travel with one guiding principle: "I sense, therefore I am."

Their body is a 120 cm humanoid frame. A flexible rose gold mesh covers their body, rippling with the movement of hidden servos and a carbon fiber endoskeleton. They're covered in pearlescent plates of synthetics, mostly decorative and serving to replicate the shapes of more humanoid musculature. Arms end in graceful hands with two long, tapering fingers and thumb. Thighs are bulging, crescent shaped ellipses connected to digitigrade legs ending in a two toed hoof of sorts. Their head is a backwards canted egg of pearlescent plate. Its only feature, a circular, magenta glowing optic, deep set into a beveled socket.

Unfortunately for Neph, they were never equipped with the ability to speak in anything other than an uninflected baritone, thus the necessity of prefacing every statement with a modifier of emotion or intent, "annoyed: Oh yes. I never desired to speak with anything resembling nuance, Coan meat sack"

Arguably their most interesting and useful feature is their sensory net. They posses great stores of a carbon nanotube filament that can be extruded to various lengths, and moves under its own power, affording Neph a sense of touch, taste and smell greater than most androids. This net is also incredibly versatile, able to explore and potentially stimulate individual nerve endings, probe pores, and even enter the brain case to stimulate organics directly. Somehow, Coan's engineers failed to realize the more horrifying applications of their experimental design. Well... not until the very end anyway. In addition to providing Neph enough sensory input to bootstrap into sapience, it's a remarkably good tool for self-defense, interrogations, corporate espionage and more intimate moments.

Neph has had great success, masquerading as a hacker, farming out the services of their infiltration android for the purposes of various black market intelligence gathering. Running the gamut from blackmail, interogation and espionage, Neph has grown to prefer the delicate dance of corporate espionage as a way to fund their low grade hedonism, as well as a warp capable craft that's a glorified shipping crate. Benefits of not being made of meat, one supposes.

Neph has most recently heard that Osiris might be ideal for their various services, as well as a hotbed of intrigue and a great place to meet a diversity of organics... Whether they like it or not.

Description: Iara generally wears her hair out, allowing the curly, voluminous locks to settle in a loose approximation of an afro around her head and neck. Occasionally she will tie it back in a loose ponytail. She does not wear jewelry, save for the occasional cheap, simple-looking bracelet around her right wrist. She has a particular style of dress, preferring to layer darker-colored athletic tights under looser, brightly colored shirts and dresses - practical and aesthetically pleasing, in her mind. She doesn't wear makeup on principle, and has adopted a particularly simple look of late, practical given her current situation. She has no tattoos and no particularly notable scars.

About: Iara was born in the Solomon Islands, where she lived until she was twelve, when her family relocated to Sydney, Australia. There, she was often mistaken for mixed race or aboriginal, a less than entirely positive experience. After finishing school she wandered a bit, doing odd jobs and most notably, once hitchhiking her way from Sydney to Darwin, Northern Territory (she got to known a couple of truckers quite well indeed...). Eventually she decided to try to make her way as a freelance photojournalist, getting by perpetually broke with a few general photography gigs and more odd jobs. A year ago, she was suddenly offered an opportunity to do a piece on a mysterious silicon valley company, all expenses paid - her first run in with the entity known as Ren7.

She learned soon enough that Ren7 was not what it seemed, running shady projects, intent on recruiting people with metahuman abilities for unknown purposes. Suspicious and confused, as she had no unusual abilities that she knew of, Iara declined the job offer and departed. Two nights later, she was attacked by a team of black-clad paramilitary types, her cheap motel room destroyed in a a hail of bullets - it was then that she learned that she did, indeed, have unusual abilities. The bullets bounced off of her harmlessly; knives slid across her skin, doing no damage; an explosion powerful enough to destroy her room and those adjacent shred her clothes but left her without a scratch, without the mildest of breathing issues from smoke inhalation.

The explosion destroyed her possessions, leaving her without her passport, without money, in a foreign country where she knew no one. For the past year, Iara has once again resorted to doing odd jobs, and the occasional bit of petty theft when really desperate, to get by. Her normally impulsive nature has been tempered somewhat by caution as she's worked on learning more about the mysterious Ren7. Along the way, she's had more than a couple of run-ins with other powered individuals with ill intentions - Iara has no intention of drawing more attention to herself or being some kind of 'hero', but her conscience won't let her do nothing when she knows how much damage she can with withstand and just how vulnerable most everyone else is by comparison. Never good with money, she exists now on the edge of homelessness, in and out of cheap motels, the occasional couch or bed when the opportunity arises. Though not a people person per se, and an introvert by preference, she nonetheless has never been shy, and is able to talk her way into and out of things with some skill. Bouncing around the west coast - hitchhiking is pretty damn safe when most people couldn't murder you if they tried - she has recently made her way to Las Ballenas...

Karen doesn't get out much. Every day, she collects the souls of those who have died believing (however vaguely) that the journey to the afterlife looks something like what the ancient Greeks believed. Their belief brought Charon into existence, and now that belief has waned, in addition to getting more vacation time Karen is free to be herself.

She has a terrible habit of falling in love with dying girls, then making bargains with eldritch horrors in order to heal those girls. Her first love got immortal life, but not immortal youth to go with it. Another was given the ability to heal others, at the cost of her own life force. Her latest love got off easy--she will live out her normal mortal lifespan, then die, but had her memory of Karen completely erased.

So Karen mopes, and hangs out with dead people and other psychopomps, and swears off love until she falls for another wilting rose. Again, and again, and again.

Appearance: Skinny, not slender. Fair-skinned, easily (and frequently) bruised knees and knuckles. Heart-shaped face, small hands, small feet. Her left hand- or rather, the fingers on her left hand- have a long scar just below the first knuckle.
Style: Cass dresses like the punk drop-out she very much is. A lot of jeans, most of which have holes that weren't inspired by designers; shirts with faded logos and esoteric slogans. Whatever she's wearing on her top half is probably a few sizes too big, whether that's a chunky sweater or sweatshirt or the leather jacket that used to be her grandfather's. Can't walk in heels at all, pretends she doesn't want to. No dresses, any skirt she owns is probably long enough to be considered a kilt.

Personality: Cass was a teenage shithead, and now she's a young adult trashcan fire. She's trying to do better.
Plain-spoken, not a natural optimist, but a person who intends to be kind. She has to try hard to be kind. A tendency to be an observer rather than a participant, with a gift of discovering what's important to people. Sarcastic, dry sense of humor. Not a fan of puns, but does have a weakness for absurdity. Cass has a tendency towards smart-ass remarks that she's never quite managed to fix, despite getting into more than a little trouble over it. The fact that she excels at a verbal battle doesn't do anything to change the fact that she gets her ass handed to her in physical ones.
Holds grudges, tries to convince herself she's not the kind of person who holds grudges, holds grudges on other peoples' behalf. Doesn't appreciate being handed responsibility or being told what to do; will follow a leader if she respects them, but would never volunteer for leadership.

To put it frankly: Cass was a teenager when she was told she had the power to change the world, or save it. She responded to that revelation by running away from home, pawning her dead mother's valuables, and effectively trying to drop off the face of the earth. Most days now she regrets that.

Powers: Cassiopeia sees the future. The true future: not branching paths, not possibilities, but the ultimate outcome. Unfortunately, this ability isn't usually very helpful, because she sees visions not of the future as it will happen but as symbols which represent the most significant people, places and events. Frequently these can only be interpreted after the vision has come to pass.
While deep sleep brings on visions which can't be avoided, Cass can also summon a lighter kind of scrying (with a shorter range and more vague message) while awake. Active scrying requires a canvas and a sacrifice. She's found that cigarettes will serve- they are killing her a little bit at a time, after all, and scrying with smoke is so terribly dramatic.

She suspects she might also be able to manage simple witchcraft, given the materials and instruction, but honestly that's more weird shit than she needs right now.

History:
Madeline Curran was sixteen when she met the man of her dreams, seventeen when she had his child and left the world in doing it.

Cass has never met her father, and she has no desire to do so. All she knows is that he was older than her mother-- an adult, by any means-- and he ditched town when her mom started showing. She was raised by her mother's parents, who did their best despite the whirlwind of change and tragedy that had brought her into the world. It was good, in some ways, that Cass was everything her mother was not: independent, adventurous, pragmatic and sullen where her mother had been prone to skirt-clutching and lighthearted fancy. At age six, Cass wanted to grow up to be a mechanic or a lumberjack. At age twelve, it became hard for her grandfather to look her in the eye.

The girl and her grandfather (Gramps) had always shared a tight bond, but as Cassiopeia grew into her adult features, as she shot up in height and began to tilt her head just so-- it was no longer possible to forget why Cass was in their life, and why her mother was missing. Gramps couldn't put it into words, and slowly but surely a gulf began to grow between them. Even her grandmother, a woman with a heart of gold but very little emotional awareness, was aware of the increasing distance in their relationship. At fourteen Cass started coming home with black eyes, a cut lip, a pierced eyebrow-- anything to get her grandfather to see her again. To just fucking look her in the face.

At fifteen, Cass dreamed for the first time.

Personality :: She has an array of personalities that tend to fit whatever paramour she seeks or retains at the time. There’s almost a natural falsehood about her. She mimics more than she reveals; she contours to others more than she stands apart. Sybil is generally enthralled by human activity, though she enjoys her time with metas. She has too many layers, more than most honest people can stand. One sincere reply could lead to six different lies, many of them give to suit others’ needs. She’s not what you’d call a people pleaser, but it’s better for her overall when the one she’s with at any given time enjoys her company. And really, it’s not that she’s opposed to revealing much of who and what she’s about, her past even, it’s just… who really wants the truth? Besides, it’s more fun to be someone else, to pluck strings and be what someone wants.
Appearance :: Prefers a form with red hair and eyes to match; skin tone is pale, but hushed in a barely there pink hue; curves with a bit of chub, but not too much. Sybil is a little Rubenesque, but only because she likes it that way. Her facial structure is rounded, but comes to a curved point at her chin; cheeks are pronounced, but not very cut or angular. In a way she has almost a cherub-like structure to her face. The longest part about her is her legs that are generally accented by a good set of heels; in them, she’s at least three to four inches taller than without.
History :: Sybil was born and raised in Scotland among a centralized tribe of other kelpies; they resided in the realm between the human world and the many others. Her home was freeing, but limited and too immersed in perfection. Humans who found their way there remained, drawn in by the simplicity and ease of life—a life without pain, fear, or worry. But, hey, live long enough and you grow tired of it.

As with other younglings of her kind, she left through veil, warnings and rolling elder’s eyes behind her. Sybil sought something messy, something curious and tainted that couldn’t be found among her people—among those who knew all her secrets. Leaders said she would return home; all children did eventually. Granted, time is endless for one such as her, but returning never became part of the agenda. As humans were mesmerized by her world, Sybil became enthralled with the human one.

In many ways, the mortal realm was more freeing than her home had ever been.
Powers :: Kelpies have a natural affinity for water, and, in fact can only go so long without coming in contact with it. It's not entirely unusual to see one with a bottle of H2O handy at all times--usually natural spring or a salty ocean-like. As such, they are apt swimmers, can breathe under water, and generally hate it when anyone tosses trash into what they consider to be 'home'. Sybil herself has this affinity for water itself, and, has been known to manipulate it to her will for an array of reasons. Beyond that, kelpies have the ability to manipulate and woo those into their bidding of a weaker will; most assuredly, humans. A single touch and a few words will have just about any homosapien not only hanging on their every word, but, more than willing to do anything they say.
Weaknesses :: Kelpies do not like to be bridled in their kelpie form. In fact, trying to bridle one is more likely to get your teeth kicked in than anything else you had in mind. They are even less likely to enjoy being tied up in their more human forms, but will do so if they trust the one doing the binding. Using a specific type of harness is sure to do the trick if it's a must, but finding it is the key. Kelpies don't hand out that information willingly; though, they have been known to bridle their own kind when laws are broken and they need to step in themselves and subdue an out of control tribe member.
Forms :: She retained three separate forms, all of which are listed below.

Human - Her human visage is as you see in the above picture, but it is not limited to just one. Sybil can be any sex, body type, or humanesque form that suits her needs and the needs of others at any given time. She is, after all, a shapeshifter
Humanoid Kelpie - Her skin become a dark shade of green; so dark, in fact, that it looks black. When light hits the surface, there is an obvious iridescent green; the darker shade itself is wholly contrasted by the lighter bioluminescent spots and various tiger-like stripe patterns and vines along it. The skin itself is not like that of human flesh, but rather more like that of an eel or dolphin. Her hair, much like the spots and stripes on her skin, retains a natural glow; the colors range from an array of bright to dark green shades mixed with blues and aquamarines. Her eyes, in this form, are a light green between the pupil and the outer edges of the irises; the actual outer edge of her irises are a thin shade of deep green--nearly black. Her ears are perhaps the strangest part about her while she's like this; to either side of her head where human ears would sit, are instead long and slender ears like that of a horse.
Kelpie - At first glance she appears as any other horse; however, upon close inspection, it's quite obvious Sybil is anything but. It's much like her humanoid kelpie form, but without the whole only two pesky legs issue. See image below.
