Julianna held his gaze in the silence between her question and his answer. Another yes. One word, but was more than a simple answer. It was instructions. That there would be no arguments. The kittens were hers, and that was that. Just like she would learn the forest and ignore his mother. Facts, not suggestions. Circumstances that he would see to personally, with connotations she did not yet understand.
"Then I will take care of them," she agreed. "I promise they will be safe with me." She picked up the kitten he had been handling and rubbed her fingers over its soft head. The kittens climbed over her legs and each other. Sniffing and exploring and tumbling over the furred blankets. Julianna was unsure who to determine the sex of the kittens. She decided she would give them names that weren't preferential to their sex.
Julianna watched as Eoghan got up and moved across the room. It was then she noticed a patchy scar on his shoulder for the first time. She considered asking him about it, but thought better of it for now. She sensed that he intended to put some distance between them.
"I will name this one Th'oi," she said, holding up a kitten with black fur as dark as pitch. The openness of the cabin meant he could still clearly see her from where he tended to the fire. "It's the Veridian word for night. I think it's suits this one."
She nestled the kitten into the pile and also got out of the bed. She was hungry as well and would prepare a simple breakfast for the two of them.
It started with goat milk for the kittens. She poured a generous helping into a bowl and placed it on the bearskin rug near the fire. She moved back and forth from the bed, taking a few kittens at a time, until she had all of them sloppily lapping up milk near the hearth brought to life by Eoghan once more. "And this one will be named Iino," she pointed to a grey and white kitten. Continuing her train of thought from earlier. "Storm."
When the kittens and Frostfang were taken care of. Julianna set to making herself and Eoghan a breakfast of barley porridge, smoked herring and rye bread with the supplies Ishara had brought for her the previous day. Julianna had not been entirely familiar with the food in the north, but she knew enough to keep herself fed and present a somewhat decent meal for them to share. "The all white one will be called Haul," she told him, dipping the hard, dark bread into the soupy porridge.
"For snow."

I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you.
