From the assault, to the ritual, to the unexpected sexual encounter with his school rival, the evening had been a wild ride from the start. Nicholas was not one to fight against experiences thrown his way. On the contrary, he threw himself at such novel episodes with gusto. He had certainly relished in the ritual magic and in the way Charity led them to dispel what was left over. He fell asleep in a glowing halo of sexual satisfaction and with his arm strewn across Charity’s soft middle.
What a night.
The subtle tap tap of Charity’s tail on the mattress brought Nicholas just to the edge of consciousness. He smiled when he opened his eyes.
“Hey.”
Beatrice, on cue, scratch scratch scratched on the bedroom door asking to be let in. A lazy flicking motion with his hand and the door sung open to admit the little dog who’d been locked out of the room all night. She darted over to Nicholas’ side of the bed and raised up on two paws to scratch on the mattress asking to be let up. Whether the bed was too high or she refused to jump was unclear. It was obvious she had trained Nic into lifting her onto the bed. Which he did.
“I’m sorry, Bee.” He said nuzzling her her with his cheek. Nic dumped the little dog onto the bed and she made herself quite at home.
“Today’s going to be a long day.” He complained now to Charity. “I could sleep for another few hours. What a night, though, right?” He laughed and scratched his fingers through his hair taking notice now of the rosy tint to Charity's cheeks. She seemed frazzled by it all.
Who could blame her really. It had been such a strange night. Yet Nic was content to act as if it were all perfectly normal. And for all she knew, to him, such nights were perfectly ordinary.
