'Must you be so awful?' she asked him.
Yes, he did.
Or at least he felt that he did.
All Darcy wanted to do was convince her to stay away from him. He didn't need her help, or her pity or her attention. He didn't need Ishara fawning over him, and trying to endear herself to him because he was weak and injured and she wanted to leave.
That's all he was to her. A boat ticket to the states.
He scowled at her until she left for the evening with spritely promises that she would be returning to check on him the following day.
Which she did. The following day, and the next and the next and the next in what felt like an endless loop of suffering to him because all he wanted to do was be left alone.
At least he could walk again. Two weeks after the attack and with Ishara's constantly bothering him.
Not to mention Renly. Who now also hung around, because he heard Ishara hung around. He wasn't exactly pleasant about it since he now considered Darcy a rival for Ishara's affections. Which he supposed he was even though he didn't want to be. Which he tried to explain, but the other man was lax to listen.
"You know that Renly is quite smitten with you," he grumbled in Ishara's direction on the day he was meant to be discharged from the hospital. It felt good to be able to put on his own uniform again. It was less good that Ishara was there trying to get him to drink another one of her teas. She was always pushing some concoction and tincture at him that she insisted would make him feel better. "If you want so badly to get of here, he would be an easy way to do it."
He felt no guilt about pushing the little con woman onto his best friend.

I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you.
