"A lady doesn't kiss and tell," Fisel explained, sounding serious, but correct to his previous observation, they both knew that she was no lady, had never been particularly imaginative otherwise. She had resorted to being less subtle about the way she was testing the bonds around her wrist. Lifting them to eye level she inspected the nature of the magic that was at use.
Was it a summoning spell and there was actually something terrible keeping her in check? Or just a trick of obtenebration, harnessing the use of actual shadows. Could not decide how to counteract the enchantment, could not reach her neutralizers, regardless.
Her rigorous inspection was to ignore the way that he was towering over her as he sorted through his own thoughts, and asked questions that she wasn't going to answer, refusing to admit that she was backed into a corner, that she was a little intimidated.
Her fidgeting ceased when he mentioned that he many have something for her. Her hands dropped into her lap, and if she were a dog it's possible her ears would have perked, leaning forward a touch to see what he was sorting through.
She wouldn't say she was disappointed when he produced the ring, but it was overall a bit anticlimactic.
Fisel inched away from him as he knelt near her. Not out of fear, only an indication that she may have had a thing for personal space. She looked down at the jewelry, and then back up at him. She still could not see his eyes through the mask and she did not know if it was a trick of the light or magic.
It was pretty, that was undeniable, and she tilted her head to see it from other angles. It wasn't too large, or too small, it wasn't the gaudy sort of thing you saw most nobles wearing. He was correct in that it would suit her, if the gesture of it's presentation was not very suspicious. She hesitated, admittedly and rightfully concerned with whatever he had inscribed along the silver. Despite the trace of a demand in his tone, she did not immediately offer a finger.
"I typically don't accept proposals from men I've just met," she explained after a thoughtful bout of silence. She still gathered that compliance was in her favor; the other option being a blatant disregard for her position. She also assumed, or hoped, that if he wished her harm he would find a more creative way to do so. She lifted her hands again, offering him a choice of which digit to slide the ring onto.
"I will make an exception for you, I suppose. Since, you're so charming."
