However, what he did not quite expect was the violent nature brought on by their connection. His stormy eyes swirled more violently in turn, more darkly from a gray and white to black, as if reacting to the strong aversion the other ghost had.
As he asked him to stop Ambrose did. And he frowned; though it was more out of sadness than anything else. He didn’t quite look like a kicked puppy, but it was obvious by the way he cast his eyes downward, in how his form became less animated and more morose, that he’d been emotionally wounded in some way.
Was no one fond of his company?
Perhaps if he had been an apparition who desired a little more distance he would have acted more astutely given that he knew that if another spirit was not open to the idea of actually making ‘physical’ contact with him then it would not be pleasant for either. And yet, all he could feel from him had become that much stronger for a moment—that agony, the grief. It tore at Ambrose well enough to make his eyes close then.
But, he made no move to try again; he made no immediate move to speak to the woman.
He sighed—eventually—but did not open his eyes. “This Ambrose is not a guard dog. He is here, listening always for the song he cannot find. He is here, easing that which aches.” And then he touched his chest once more. “Many,” was all he said in reply to how many people resided there, vague as usual.
And then his eyes did open; he looked at her once more. He opened his mouth to speak, or so it appeared. But then those eyes shifted to white-grey clouds spinning once more. His brow knit and he simply turned and moved to leave though the wall that Alrec and Dahlia were speaking on the other side of. As he glided away, hardly seeming to walk at all, his tendrils of white wisp ghosted after him. They almost ‘poofed’ as he went right through the door and into the main hall.
Ambrose would be visible to both Dahlia and Alrec if they chose to look at his humming glow of a white form as he made his way towards the main entrance—fully intent on greeting another guest beckoning their front door.
