Ey grinned like a particularly gleeful anglerfish, wide and sharp and pearly white, eir rattle more of a chuckle than a laugh. Such surprise! They hadn't been expecting em, then. If they had, they'd been terribly ill-informed. Was it possible they'd wandered in unawares? That almost never happened. Ill-informed was more likely, new in town and with the vague understanding that this was a place where favors could be exchanged.
Still. Not a sure thing. Not sure at all when Xotll had said nothing about anyone trying to meet em. Better to lay more careful snares than overplay their hand.
Especially with one like this. Rare to get a human with this sort of smell to them, looking so pretty.
As their gaze moved up eir tail, tendrils moved along the length of it, flaring outward just a bit in a rippling motion. There was a resemblance to a more reasonably-sized snake swallowing something too large in time-lapse footage. The gesture was braggadocious, and undeservedly so, not that anyone on Osiris would know it.
Ey did so love to feel impressive.
Xotll brought a little glass of black Krotazi wine, and Grilka accepted it with one right hand while patting her on the head with the other. "Thank you, Xotll."
"Will that be all?" she asked hopefully.
"Yes, dear."
Xotll looked disappointed, and pouted visibly as she retreated. Grilka blinked in conjunction with eir nictating membrane, aware that humans found the effect of blinking twice with different eyelids unsettling. Tongues darted at the air between them again.
"Hello," ey greeted.
