Kari sort of sighed again as he took another drink, a sound caught between moods. Not quite content, though it wanted to be. Too much else he wanted and wouldn't let himself have. He took another drink, longer this time, distracting himself with sweet tastes and the subtle burn of alcohol behind it. The bartender was surprisingly good at mixing drinks with those hands that looked like they should have been so clumsy.
He paused as he took his glass away from his mouth, a faint pink ring of lipstick marking the rim. Something was prickling at the back of his neck, an alcohol-dulled sense picking up on... something. He stilled momentarily, slowly setting his drink down on the bar, and listened.
He didn't have to listen for long.
Something large slid into view directly to his right, all scales and limbs. He jolted, shocked that something so significant could have snuck up behind him without him noticing. He hadn't had that many drinks.
Then, a split second later, his eyes registered the long tail trailing from above. This time, when he jumped, it was to recoil, damn near falling off the bar stool in horrified shock. He managed to sort of jump-stand off it instead, catching it with a hand when it clattered, threatening to fall over.
He didn't feel much better with a bar stool between him and the alien, though it was a bit easier to take in what he was seeing from a distance of a few feet. Sapphire scales that faded to pale pink in some places, a reptilian build. Tall, even before accounting for the tail. Horns, four arms with sharp fingers... talons. No clothes, no secondary sex characteristics he could identify, just thin chains and jewelry. Snake's eyes a solid magenta.
Pretty, if ey wasn't so busy being seriously scary looking.
And then there was the tail.
Kari's eyes followed it up, widening as his chin tilted back. It went all the way to the roof, which was... considerably high. There it wound around the pipes in the ceiling, and disappeared. He could not see the end. His eyes dropped back to the thing's face.
It was probably rude to jump out of chairs at people. But to be fair, ey had been very up in his personal space. And was terrifying.
He reached out for his drink, still standing, and knocked the rest of it back, deciding he was still too sober to deal with this properly. The thing was still just as large and just as close when he set the now-empty glass back on the bar.
