Her husband was on the other end, apparently standing over a body that had been crushed to death. If she sounded distracted, it's because she was. She would apologize to him later if she had to, but she had her own job to do. A business to run, and she could hardly be bothered with worrying about Wereserpents. <font color="#bd1185]"Honey, I'm sorry, but I have to go." She hung up before he could protest, and set the phone gently on her desk. Silence settled into her office once more and she breathed in a sigh of relief.
The moment was short lived, when the intercom went off with a buzz. Her displeasure sounded off in an audible groan and whoever it was on the other end took it as response. "Need you in the security office," was all they said before the line went silent again.
With a roll of her dark eyes, she pushed back her chair and rose to her full height. She smoothed out the silken material of her sari, and readjusted the scarf properly over her shoulder. The garment was a royal purple color with an intricate pattern of silver. It hugged her curves and flared out behind her like a cape. She still looked impressively authoritative in all that elaborate embroidery. She gathered a few files and her phone before exiting the room.
Her sandals were silent on the carpeted floors as she navigated the path from her office to the security room. An electromagnetic ID card gave her easy access to the room, and she opened the door to be greeted by the flickering lights of a dozen television screens. Each one would broadcast three or four different cameras that were spread at integral points within the casino.
<font color="#bd1185]"What seems to be the problem?"
One of two security guards motioned to one of the screens before turning in her chair to face Lakshmi. "Mind reader at the mundane tables," she explains, causing the proprietress' brow to furrow. <font color="#bd1185]"Well, that just won't do at all," she complains with a click of her teeth. <font color="#bd1185]"Are you sure?"
"We had one of our own confirm it. We're not sure how he got past the screening, but it's becoming a bit of a problem."
Lakshmi turned away from the screens and shoved the files under one arm so she had both hands to use her phone. She dialed a number from memory.
<font color="#bd1185]"Tau," she says by way of greeting when the line was answered. <font color="#bd1185]"Be a dear and remove the gentleman from the poker table in the Red Room for me. Leave him his winnings, and do try not to make a scene. When you've finished meet me in my office."
She would wait for a confirmation, before she hung up. <font color="#bd1185]"Don't let this happen again," she says, almost casually to the security guards. There was still a hint of a threat to her words, however. She left the pair to their jobs, and made her way to the upper floor to wait for her enforcer.

I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you.
