The door to the library is massive, oak, and intricately carved. Despite its size, it swings easily on its iron hinges, opening onto easily the largest library you've ever seen. Bookcases fill it from wall to wall, each towering over your head in aisles like a labyrinth. In the center of the ground floor is a large spherical computer, swirling with information, most importantly, a catalog of the library's vast collection.
Staircases climb up the back wall, leading to more stories, and balconies. On these higher floors can be found reading nooks, as well as doors to rooms that serve various functions. Bedrooms, studies, kitchens, tea rooms, rooms that no one's quite sure what they're intended for.
The library's owner is likely somewhere reading a book, but if you enter, he'll know.
He always knows.

"Not sure why you wanted this old place. It's been years since anyone's been in here."
David smiled as the elderly man fiddled with the lock on the door. It was a pin-and-tumbler lock, no less, completely analog; he hadn't seen a lock like that on a building since he was a boy. "That's part of why I wanted it."
The door opened, and David stepped in past him, inhaling deeply. No other scent in the world could match up to the scent of old books. That scent, he believed, was the only reason that libraries like this still existed. Behind him, the elderly man flicked the switch.
A deep hum spread through the library, lights coming to life slowly, beginning with the ones at back. The brochure had said that the library was nearly two hundred thousand square feet, or about five acres. The building's footprint was only a single acre. It was unsurprising, therefore, to see the bookcases rising high above him, several floors and balconies towering over his head.
He took another step forward, running a hand over the nearest row of spines, feeling the dust that came off on his fingertips. Also unsurprising, due to the long neglect. The books did seem to be in good condition, however, and that was all that mattered. He'd heal the ones that had gotten ill, and the city would once more have its library, revered in times past as the largest on the planet.
"Will you be needing anything else? The number of a cleaning service?"
"No!" He shook his head. "No. I'll take care of the place myself."

1. Good spelling and grammar are a must. There is no post length requirement, just make sure other players have something to work with. I WILL report anyone who posts annoying single lines in my thread.
2. This thread is walk-in, but be careful! While I encourage thread-hopping, please consider how your character came to be in this place. Non-literary characters and generally loud people generally don't end up in a library. Post in the OOC if you want help brainstorming, I'll be happy to help.
3. Porn should serve plot, and not the other way around.
4. This thread is large enough to really justify location tags! Please indicate in the beginning of your post the location of your character to minimize confusion.
5. Please keep OOC and IC motivations separate. IC drama is encouraged, but OOC, not so much. To this end, is it encouraged to Roleplay in third person. (He opened the book, rather than I opened the book.)
6. Keep OOC to a minimum, such as small notes at the end of an otherwise IC post. If you want to chat or ask something before posting, head on over to the OOC thread I inhabit!
7. The Library is everywhere at once. To this end, you can hop from the library to any other thread, even ones not on sci-fi boards, if there is a valid reason for your character to go there.
Taxi, information broker, and now room service.
He closed the door carefully, rolling the cart to the side of the bed, then sitting beside her gently. "Rise and shine, my lovely firebrand," he murmured, gently stroking her face. "I've made breakfast for you." His wings gently unfurled, feathered tips slowly caressing her body through the sheets.
