He rolled his eyes at her disagreement about the tears. She’d been sniffling and readying the water works, but he wasn’t going to split hairs when he’d come here to get in a bit of entertainment. “She’s not very bright,” he muttered to himself. If she made mistakes like this she’d get herself killed within a three months—if she was lucky. If she wasn’t... maybe a week. He didn’t know where they hell she’d come from, but Valsport wasn’t exactly a pool of safety. Not with the fae, not with the werecreatures, not with the vampires, hell... not with most meta. There were some nicer places, places safer than others, but it wasn’t Sunshine and Rainbows Blvd sitting on the corner of Easy Street.

“Doesn’t matter, sweetheart,” he felt the need to tell her as he moved to stand next to her bathroom door, his back to the wall. Arms moved to cross over his chest as he leaned in. “There are some creatures in this world you don’t fuckin’ welcome into your home, even if they’re already there. Gives them permission to attack you.” Like some types of ghosts, for one. Some were alright, but there were others, the ones that if you made feel like they could remain, that turned the inside of you sanctuary into a damned light novel of the underworld. Blood on the walls and all—the whole bucket of works.

He was barking laughter then. “You’re the stupid bitch who got naked and didn’t tell me to go away. I know why I’m here.

“Eye candy?” More laughter. “You got a rape fetish? You get off on strange meta creatures coming in your house and peeking at you, touching you, princess?”

The water sloshed a little as she shifted, she was smiling a little though, she carefully cleaned the road rash using the tweezers to pick out a couple shards of asphalt. Feeling better overall, except perhaps for the dull throbbing of her arm, she got out of the tub pulling the plug as she did so. Dried off and put an overlarge teeshirt on and sweatpants with skulls and crossbones. With the ACE bandage in her hand she passed him and went back downstairs into the kitchen. Calling up the stairs," You know, I like the endearments, but they are really subdued by your attempts to insult me."

She got a jar of honey down and using her fingers spread some over her wound then applied a sterile cotton pad and wrapped it in the bandage. Then, while she had the honey out prepared a plate of Fae bread and set it out on the time concrete porch out the back door. She didn't stop moving after that, taking the backpack into a small room off the living room that was probably meant to be a spare bedroom or office. Currently it was lined with boxes, one bookcase was filled with a few books near the bottem and glass mason jars lined the top few shelves. A tall oak table sat in the middle. She unloaded her backpack, more mason jars, bundles of cloth wrapped herbs and a package of cheesecloth. She pulled a stool out from under the table and began making herbal wards and tight bundles of sage.

He watched as she exited the bathroom and wandered on by down the stairs. He heard her response and shrugged, not minding that she couldn’t see it. At this point he wasn’t even trying to annoy her, more shocked than anything else that she hadn’t died long ago due to her own flippancy. He would say it was one big misdirection and she was planning something bigger to try and kick him curbside, but her emotions bled honesty. And he knew she’d never seen one of his kind before, else she wouldn’t have said so—again, she’d bled emotive honesty. She should have been shocked to see him, surprised.

Stupid it was then.

It only made sense if she’d had no previous experience with someone like him. Jeeze, maybe she was a sociopath—totally incapable of expressing things like fear. Most hitmen and women were, so she was in the perfect line of work. But, damn, when the luck ran out she was going to get crushed.

He sauntered down the stairs, half wondering what it would take to get her to react to him. If she didn’t? Well, he’d just toddle off somewhere else. Maybe grab a drink or something, play peeping Tom to couple of idiot kids. Scare a few people. That was always a thrill.

He made it back to her kitchen and opened a box, immediately going through her packed things. After a brief appraisal of steel pot he dumped it behind him. It clattered on the floor and banged loudly as he went for the next item, a glass pitcher.

Looked old.

"Oi!" she shouted from the other room," What in the 9 Hells do you think you are doing?!"

She exploded from the other room and advanced on him, fire in her eyes. Snatching the pitcher from his hand," If you can't behave I'll have to toss you out." She put the pitcher on the counter," If you feel like you need to do something, go scare the neighbors."

She didn't understand what he was about, she'd shown nothing but consideration and he was showing nothing but the seeming desire to annoy her severely. He was probably thinking that she was a moron, since she wasn't throwing him out anyways. There was nothing to be done. She stared at him for a long moment, scrutinizing him.

True she'd only been hunting for roughly 19 months now, and her kill count wasn't very high. She didn't employ the modern methods that the other Hunters did. Still though, she was effective. The voices were clamoring again, fighting for control, with effort that didn't show on her face. Then suddenly, her pupils dilated. Her brows drew forward in anger, and she was on him like a wolf chasing down its prey. Actions as efficient as any professionally trained assassin, her expression deadpan after that moment of anger. She made no noise except for her steps and the rustling of cloth.
