Anyway, as is probably obvious from my recent profile/fic posts, I'd really like to do something with Boudica. I don't know what, though?? Every time I have tried to do anything with her before it has ended in disappointment, so apparently I'm picky. Some characters work anywhere, some characters require Special Attention. You know how it is.

This post could theoretically be a pretty good hook, I think.

When I say I'm picky, I don't mean writing style or anything like that. It's more that some character dynamics are more interesting than others? Y'all know me, I'm always a slut for weird interpersonal character dynamics. Like... she's practically magically cursed to be super shy and easy to hurt and she gets drunk off sugar and can't feed herself. That is a recipe for Creative Sadism. Regular sadism need not apply. Slow burns and weird tension and awkwardness and testing boundaries.

I said slow burn, but just in case it might come up: dubious consent would be a maybe and noncon would be a no. Manipulative characters are better than aggressive/violent ones. _{yeah i have a type what of it wanna fight about it}

Related: slow burn doesn't mean these characters are gonna be BFFs 4 lyfe. This thread can just be a brief and weird period in both their backstories. Your character will not be In A Committed Roleplay.

If you are interested in this weirdly specific bullshit, suggest a character! If you can point me at a ficlet or an RP you've already done with them, that would be rad, just because that is the best way to see how the character plays in action. You know? Sometimes you read a profile and you think it's gonna be one thing and then you read a story and you're like, "oh that's not what I was imagining". Then again, that might just be me and the weird ways I play characters.

I couldn't decide if I wanted to save it for an actual thread, but I decided that I would want the actual thread to come later anyway. It scratched a little bit of the itch without letting any important materials go to waste~

'my grandma/distant relative left me this house but it says in the will that i have to make sure to leave gifts out for the fairy in the attic so i'm pretty sure she was hella senile OH GOD THERE'S SOMETHING IN MY HOUSE' - a scenario that will definitely end well for everyone

i've always described boudica as plain but finding a 'plain' model is UNSURPRISINGLY DIFFICULT so we all just have to imagine a world where no one notices that denise bidot is hot (and also a world where denise bidot isn't almost six feet tall)

Does such a world exist?! It couldn't! But blast this premise sounds fun even if I don't really have anyone that could be tossed into it. Unless grandma is Brazilian or Japanese and has a forger grandson... But I have no writing samples for him and probably shouldn't be starting anything anyway. But sounds interesting and I want to read this

Grandma can be of any ethnicity! Haha wow that's a weird sentence out of context. But I was deliberately vague, all we know is that she had a big house and liked to bake and believed in old-school fairy lore. And she can always be a distant relative rather than an actual grandma, leaving her house to the family's other black sheep. Or only black sheep. I feel like I insinuated that the family is kind of unpleasant, but for all we know the old lady was mean and terrible and was only nice to magical attic maids. She definitely left the house to whoever she thought would be most likely to obey her weird as hell will.

There were notes that happened, but no complete shorts yet.  I was trying to discourage him from sticking around. XD

He was very excited (*cue low-key barely-a-nod*) that the house now qualifies as "someone died here" and wants to decorate with cobwebs and dark drapes and hopes it rains...forever.  Also that there's a basement.  Large enough to hold a very lush coffin-bed.  And...interrogatory, pokey things.  

"Ah, the witching hour. Wait." *lights brand new candle. AGAIN.*  "Drafty is passable." But nothing's better than a good table-to-floor candle wax drip. *adds more candles and uses a blowtorch to burn them all half-mast*  "It'll take this time.  Or the house will burn down." *shrugs*




*plays a beautific chord on his cello* "That won't do. It's supposed to sound like the walls are closing in. Like the decaying wallpaper clinging to desperate life over the fireplace is trying to choke the tears from the unsympathetic eyeballs of all passersby.
" *cuts e string with convenient dagger* *notes that it was missing just the day before but is magically present today* "I suppose this means I should get a cat."

boudica would be so horrified WHAT HAPPENED, THIS HOUSE WAS SPOTLESS, DID THIS HOUSE GET WILLED TO A SPIDER BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO LIVE HERE WITH A GIANT SPIDER

furiously batting at the corners with a broom, tipping over because the ceiling is too high and the broom has been weighted down with all the goth stuck to it

the candles would be even more confusing, she hasn't had to clean up candle wax in like a hundred years, why are there so many candles everywhere ;-; she'd walk into the room and then have to sit down for a minute to recover. SUCH A MESS.
