I could literally do this every day and no one would notice (but I'm not gonna because that's a pain).

Also: now that we're past the six-month window and I can export the database to save it on my computer, I'm looking into alternative hosting options. Right now I'm paying $10 a month (or $120 annually) to host us on forums.net. But it looks like we're using less than 3GB of file storage and under 75GB of bandwidth, which means moving it to my preferred hosting service would change the cost to... $15 annually. Or $1.25 a month. The next tier would be $30 a year if we needed more space and bandwidth than that.

So that's... you know... a pretty significant savings.

I'm not making any decisions until I've experimented more using XAMPP on my local system, but research indicates that the only things we would lose would be attachments (which I can reup) and passwords, which would need to be reset via email. Sooooo, watch out for news on that front, I guess.

1: The Life:  Pain, obvs.  Little has a cold I'm worried will head into fever territory.  My grandpa passed last Monday.  Past week was full of family stuff.  Lots of it.  We were supposed to hit NJ next weekend for the service but well...see item 2.
2: And Times:  SC is pretty much underwater.  Roads washing away, bridges out, 30 dams and levies broke by 4 this afternoon.  Saluda River's so high the gauges washed away so now they can't report data on it.  Just "THE RIVER IS STILL REALLY HIGH AND GETTING HIGHER." lmao.  :D  Our house is safe so far, we have food, boiled water, running water we can boil more of, electricity, and a roof over our heads.  We're worried about gusts of wind uprooting trees in the water-logged soil.  Further down the street from us was not so lucky and many homes & businesses are, like the roads: underwater or GONE.  (Mind you, this is all in the middle of the state, not even the coast.)
3: Book Due in December: 20k left to rewrite.  Halfway through what I wanted to get done by October 1.
4: RP Status:  Hang in there :D  I'll be back as soon as I can, and have notes scribbled for easy picking up once I'm able to sit down and write things.  (That's the toughest part so YAY!)  It's gonna be at least another couple of weeks.  We'll be trying to help our friends who were downstream of a major dam break find places to stay while displaced, getting water and food to other friends who are literally stranded on islands as the dirt roads to their houses washed away.  Maybe another RP NaNoWriMo adventure, eh?  LOL...November?

Here's some pics of our area.  And yes, some of these are only a few miles from where we are, cutting off several of our routes to hub's work, friends' houses, stores.  Some of them are downtown, which is right in the path of an entire now-empty lake's worth of water due to a major dam break.  The title loan place in one of those pics completely collapsed and washed away.  Those broken roads are all near us & around us...a couple of them we watched give way on live TV: a truck drove over one and right after he did, the other half of the road disappeared.  A second truck made it, and the rest of the way gave out as soon as he was across.

omg! Stay safe!! Learning how to do mergers and consolidations is kicking my butt, plus I accidentally became layout editor for the school newspaper, so it's not like I'm a posting machine lately. @w@ I can't speak for anyone else but I imagine they will all agree with my feeling that I can wait as long as necessary for you to take care of real-life stuff.
