The nurses will depend, some are nice and others just focused on work to be super nice. But like anywhere else, there is that possibility of a rude person who is just stressed, tired or angry.
The food isn't delicious, but it's good quality and healthy. The best - and I really do mean the best - chowder soup I have ever had was at a hospital. Just the right amount of chunks to broth, and it was low sodium / fat. How they did this?? Witchcraft...
I don't know about the spread of disease, but that many sick people in one area...there is the likelyhood.
I think you'll be able to, alot of hospitals are letting people use their tech. But it's something to ask ahead of time so you don't bring it if you don't need it.

Soooo.... totally didn't read anything up to this point. Love you all~! I'm just putting a note here to let you peeps know I'm all done relaxing and my busy shit is done for a mo'. (Been driving roomies everywhere from work to classes, but I have a weekend break.) So, yeah, I'm gonna do all of my posts tomorrow. (If not all, than hopefully most of them.
