Rules of Muskaptilo - KittyUnpretty - 11-07-2014

1. Characters on Muskaptilo are usually women.

2. Native characters should be ethically South Asian or otherwise dark-skinned. Native Muskaptilians tend to be obsessive geniuses and are often irritable. They choose a subject, and care about little outside it. Native Muskaptilians have a strong cultural belief in cleanliness and no taboo regarding nudity, so the public bathhouse is one of the most-used buildings on the island. There are fountains in every house with running water through a system of clay pipes, allowing for handwashing at any time. There is a belief among natives that mainlanders lack good hygiene, and have a tendency to smell terribly.

3. Non-native characters must have arrived on a small ship, or coaxed Circe into bringing them to the island. Women trying to escape a bad situation, and women who flirt with Circe, are given passage without question. Men who have been abused are given similar passage. She will bring along scholars or traders for a price, if they seem harmless. Once on the island, a continued presence requires audience with the King, either for a visitor's dispensation or for citizenship. In order to receive either of those things, one must be able to convince a suspicious King that they are a good person.

4. While this is a fantasy setting, it is extremely low magic. There should be no spell-slinging wizards on Muskaptilo; maybe alchemists, maybe studios magical scholars who can perform a few rudimentary tricks, but that is about it. Characters should be human, or capable of passing for human.
